The city of Barcelona comes to life throughout November as some of the top artists from the jazz sphere grace the city during the month-long Barcelona International Jazz Festival 2012! The festival, which enjoyed its first installment in 1966, has grown in popularity as the years have passed and now plays host to some of the smoothest saxophone players from around the globe, as well as some top names in blues and soul, during this annual celebration of musical talent.
The event, which kicks off on October 30th and runs until November 30th, offers something for everyone: from jazz enthusiasts to those who simply enjoy unwinding to these soothing sounds. An estimated 80 concerts are to be held during this one-month period at some of Barcelona’s best known venues, including the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Liceu Conservatory, as well as at some cool dives such as the Harlem Jazz Club. What’s more, by renting one of the many central apartments in Barcelona , you can be close to all of the sweet shows at the Barcelona Jazz Festival this autumn!
Fantastically Free Concerts
If you are visiting Barcelona and find yourself on a tight budget, rest assured, the Barcelona Jazz Festival offers plenty of free concerts to choose from. Most notable are the musical styles of Spike Wilner, set to perform on November 26th, as well as Les Jams de Liceu on November 15th, 22nd and the 29th of November at the Liceu Conservatory – all free of charge! Other Events
Amidst all of the fantastic shows during the festival, be sure to catch other exciting events running parallel to the concerts, including the water, light and music shows held at the enchanting Montjuïc Magic Fountain, which take place every weekend until the finale on December 1st. Up for a spot of wine? Make your way to the wine tasting accompanied by a live jazz show on November 13th at Monvínic.
